Kenya 2004
Countries-Holidays
Sample text of our Kenya tour 2004
Finally, the day of the adventurous holiday came. We arrived in due time at Copenhagen Airport, checked in and booked the seats for both the SAS plane to London Heathrow Airport and the Kenya Airways plane to Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta Airport. As always when we are travelling, we went to do some shopping and very quickly it was time for going to the gate.
Coming to the gate everything seemed to be ok, but after a while it was announced that our plane had technical problems, and thus we would have to be transferred to another plane. This caused a delay of half an hour, but the plane caught up with the delay, and we landed at scheduled time.
Heathrow is a very big airport, and getting to the terminal of Kenya Airways took a quarter of an hour by bus. We had altogether 3 hours in London , but the time passed very quickly, and well seated with lots of space for legs we took off.
Flying time was scheduled to approximately 8 ½ hours, so we had to sleep in the plane if we wanted to be ready for the safari that practically started at arrival. We both succeeded to sleep, but as usual I woke up several times. At about three o’clock in the morning I was dozing, when I suddenly felt that the plane was descending and shortly after I heard the captain announcing that we had to land in Khartoum due to problems with the plane. When Mira asked what was going on, I told her what I heard. I am sure it gave her a turn. However, shortly after the captain was back in the loudspeaker saying that a passenger was seriously ill, and that we had got permission to land in Khartoum to transfer the passenger to hospital. For us that was a better reason, but maybe the ill passenger would have preferred the other reason.
