Mira is born in Yugoslavia in 1944, and I am born in Danmark in 1946. We met in London in February 1967, where we both had just started to work at Foyles bookshop. Foyles claimed, at that time, to be the greatest bookshop of the world. Foyles employed many young foreigners of different nationality. They came to Foyles to get the possibility to improve their English skills. Foreign employees usually got a contract for half a year, and Foyles would normally not prolong it. However, Mira got her contract renewed. Throughout her employment, Mira worked in the general office of Miss Foyle, the owner of the company. I did not get my contract renewed and got a second job at The London Hospital. At Foyles, I worked in the Receiving Department and at the hospital in the Central Sterile Supply Department and the Dental Department.

Mira stayed 1 1/2 years in London, and I stayed one year. We got married in December 1968 in The Church of St. Mary in Elsinore, and our wedding was celebrated in Elsinore's Royally Privileged Shooting Society's Assembly Rooms. We have been together ever since. In 1986, Mira got her Danish citizenship.

So it came that Mira got a Danish family, and I got a Yugoslav family. We can recommend getting a foreign family; it broadens your view on different cultures and on other ways of living.
